WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION OF WINE GRAPE GROWERS
Organized in 1983, the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers serves the needs of wine grape growers in Washington state. The Association advocates for the wine growing industry by providing promotion, information, representation and education for wine grape growers and helps to maintain the unity of the industry.
The most important service to the membership is continuing education for a growing industry focused on premium quality. Membership includes wine grape growers, wineries, researchers and suppliers.
WAWGG SUPPORTS THE INDUSTRY • WAWGG focuses on education for the industry, providing palate training for growers, viticulture training for industry newcomers and veterans, vineyard tours and workshops.
• In 2005, WAWGG launched Vinewise, the Washington Guide to Sustainable Viticulture. WAWGG provides education and training about sustainable management practices designed to support the industry as a whole, and carry it into the future.
• WAWGG provides a voice for the industry in governmental affairs, sending representatives to Olympia and Washington D.C. to communicate industry issues to lobbyists and regulatory representatives.
• WAWGG also provides the industry with annual crop and harvest estimates and a suggested price list, while serving as a conduit between grape and bulk wine sellers and buyers.
ANNUAL MEETING, CONVENTION & TRADE SHOW Each year, WAWGG produces the Annual Meeting, Convention and Trade Show, an opportunity for the industry as a whole to meet, with grape growers, vintners, researchers, educators, marketers, vendors and students attending to learn about the latest industry trends and technology. The convention runs for three plus days, with speakers, seminars, and hands-on classes, culminating in the annual auction to benefit the efforts of the Washington Wine Industry Foundation.
